We are a group of 5th graders working on an Advanced Level Product and Performance project. We decided to create a website with resources for English Learners arriving at Berkman Elementary due to the high number of students attending our campus who have limited English vocabulary. This year we had about 25 students from Afghanistan. Most of them knew little to none English so they struggled adjusting, mostly because of the communication challenges. We are hoping to have this website available for any students and guardians whose first language is not English. In order to be in alignment with the vocabulary used in the classrooms, we decided to just include only those cards used by teachers.
